School Mentor

A mentor is someone who becomes an inspiration, a role model- someone whose life we can learn from.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is our school's mentor. Here at Dr. S. Radhakrishnan International School, we find that his philosophy of life and education is closely tied with the Gurukul philosophy of "Be Natural Through Social For Spiritual".

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan firmly believed that "Students are the future of the nation. Their foundation should be strong; students should realize the worth of mankind. Merely taking a degree is not of much importance but to turn out as a true human being matters more, thus each student should portray a true picture of humanity."

Dr. Radhakrishnan was of the opinion that only the right kind of education could solve many ills of the society and the country. He wanted to bring in a change in the educational system by improving the quality of education and building up a strong relationship between the teacher and the taught. In his opinion, teachers should be the best minds of the country; they should not merely instruct but should gain the true affection of pupils, and the respect for teachers cannot be ordered but it should be earned.

In honour of this great personality and educationist our school celebrates Mentor’s Day on 4th of September and Teacher’s Day on 5th September every year.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

The pandemic has created a global crisis, and the impact on Education has been felt by all. While you have been facing the challenges of the lockdown at home, we have been working towards developing virtual classrooms that students can access from home. The school had organized intensive training for teachers at all levels. The Heads and teachers have been taking online courses through this vacation. The Management has organized resources and tools for online learning that has enabled the school to provide a seamless educational experience to all its students. We hope you have been receiving our emails and information sheets, and also are able to access our helpline.

Research on online learning for school going children has found a positive impact of online tools on student learning and achievement. In addition, it has built the skills of self-study, collaboration, critical thinking (eliminating peer pressure) and resourcefulness in students. By reducing the need for travel, it contributes positively to time-saving and the environment. The advantage of face-to-face learning is of course in relation to building social-emotional skills. We are continuing with our Social Emotional Learning Curriculum (SELC). We also recommend that parents engage students at home in discussions, exploring the values of options and choices, sensitivity to people around them, and guide them to stay safe online.

Online learning for younger students is a matter of much study, and our educational plan takes into consideration the age, natural developmental instincts and the possibilities of interacting through the screen for very young children. We request parents to work with us by gently guiding the child, staying flexible when needed, and maintaining a positive environment at all times. Our teachers have planned an exciting online experience for our students and we are sure the children will enjoy the sessions.

Do communicate with us via email for all your concerns and queries and provide your full support to the teacher during classroom sessions, just as you have supported the school wholeheartedly during this time. We are delighted to have the students back with us, and all of us are looking forward to seeing them again.

Take care and stay safe!
With warm regards,
Principal (Meenakshi Kilpady)
